Mostly ARGENTINA 2017

Mostly ARGENTINA: best Argentina itinerary, is an art and cultural journey that grew out of a recent trip to South America with my friend Louise Ward from Spanish & beyond. Together, Louise and I have designed a unique travel experience that enhances the well travelled paths of Argentina with places not usually visited by tourists. Our itinerary is personalised and carefully paced, our destinations and activities allowing for genuine engagement and deep appreciation of our surroundings. This is a journey to satisfy enquiring minds and active imaginations!

In March this year I travelled to Argentina via Chile. Louise and I flew Qantas direct to Santiago and spent two days immersing ourselves in the artistic, literary and culinary delights of Chile’s capital city. We arrived in the middle of the day, checked into our hotel and headed for the boho area of Bellavista, famous for its restaurants, bars, theatres, artisan shops and La Chascona, the home, now museum, of Chile’s great poet, Pablo Neruda.

A cultural immersion into the history, language, art, literature and Latin lifestyle of ARGENTINA, with a splash of Chile

24 March – 8 April 2017

$7,730 pp twin share, including return Qantas economy airfare

Beginning in Chile, we explore the culinary and literary delights of Santiago before crossing the snow capped Andes Mountains to arrive in the Argentine wine mecca of Mendoza. Planted in the desert, Mendoza is a miracle of tree lined streets, lush green parks and fabulous food and wine.
From here we travel to Cordoba, a modern university city founded by the Jesuit Order in the 16th Century. In Cordoba the old and new sit comfortably together –marble altars imported from Europe, ceilings decorated with Spanish gold leaf and a short distance away, a very contemporary exhibition of graffiti clad, female manequins.
From Cordoba we retreat to Santa Rosa de Calamuchita for a four day immersion into the culture of rural Argentina.  This is where the Argentines come to relax by pristine waters, fire up their barbeques and explore the vast and majestic countryside. Our home here is the cabana resort, La Estancia, from where we enjoy typical village life, take “cooking with Spanish” classes, long (or short) walks, yoga, massages, meet a local writer, recite poetry in Spanish and EAT! Gourmet dining in a mountainous panoramic setting, authentic Argentine asado (barbeque), Viennese cakes in alpine hamlets, pizza in local restaurants …
With our energy levels restored, we then head for the cosmopolitan sophistication of Buenos Aires – its grand architecture, European style boulevards, theatres, art museums, bookshops, bohemian barrios, street art, tango dancing and much, much more…

Mostly ARGENTINA: best Argentina itinerary is a unique travel experience, taking you to places not usually visited by tourists and at a pace allowing for real engagement and deep enjoyment –  this is a journey to satisfy enquiring minds and active imaginations!
